Many people especially, in North America forget that during the winter season daylight hours are less which means freezing can occur much quicker. People who walk on sidewalks and parking lots do not realize this and that can be a mistake. Paying close attention to your surroundings is very important.

Doorsteps especially in front of home and businesses can be very dangerous. The sun many times will melt snow during daylight hours. As night approaches the temperature falls and freezing occurs. The change of you than taking a fall can happen. Pay close attention to doorsteps as they many times can be very slippery.

Being proactive can help when you leave work. A lot of times people are in a rush to get to their vehicles and head home. They do not pay attention where they are walking and this is when accidents happen. Parking lots are one of the places that freeze very quickly, as they usually getting less traffic than walkways. Blacktops should be watched for black ice which is shiny and can be very slippery. Sometimes it is tough to see though so always proceed with caution.

Follow the weather on a daily basis is something many people tend to forget. By knowing how low the temperature will get when you leave your home or work will better prepare you. Icy spots can happen quicker at lower temperatures, so knowing exactly what the weather will help keep you safe. The weather can change quickly, so always try to get the most updated forecast. If the caregiver is a family member, you have a good chance of this person treating you with respect and love. They will probably know your likes & dislikes and have a good idea of your normal disposition. If this person is a professional keep in mind that while they are there to see to your well – being, they normally have no personal attachment to you.
